Steps to Take In A Pet Emergency
If you're experiencing a veterinary emergency, follow the steps outlined below.
- Call Ahead If Possible - During our regular hospital hours, call us to let us know you are on your way. Outside of our regular hospital hours call one of the two emergency hospitals listed above in order to let them know that you are on your way.
- Follow Instructions Provided - When you call to let the emergency pet hospital know you are on your way, instructions may be provided to help you apply first aid or otherwise make your pet as comfortable. Follow these instructions carefully.
- Remain Calm - Remain as calm as you can around your pet. Remember that when your pet is feeling uncomfortable or in pain, they may react negatively to anyone trying to help them by scratching or biting. Exercise extreme caution while handling your pet in these situations.
- Bring Your Pet In For Care - Do not put yourself at risk! Safely bring your pet to our Goleta veterinary clinic or the after-hours emergency vet location above.
